.....The Road to Spurs.

After the 2008 Euro Cup I was able to splurge on an HDTV and switch from cable to satellite enabling me to get every premier league match, every weekend. Knowing absolutely nothing about the clubs my first mistake was Manchester United.

How original for an American to pick Manchester United as their club. Luckily it lasted a couple of games, I felt no passion for the team and felt stupid for paying 20bucks for a ManU flag for my wall.

Second came the Wolves. The boss was a Wolve so why not me. Well I will tell you why not, they sucked! and so back to the top I went.

Oh I dont even want to say it but Arsenal became a target for a few weeks. Long enough to waist 100 dollars on a necklace and jacket donning the Arsenal logo. They came to an end because I couldnt stand watching a bunch of pussies on the pitch. Van Percy was the fuckin worst. Not only does he look like a vampire, but Count Van Percy cries more than a women losing her virginity to a horse.

My final and longest stop came with Liverpool. I was quite fond of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard. I bought a kit and thought I had found my team. The more I watch them the more I hated Rafa and alot of the other squad players like Lucas and Ngoh. So I decided fuck it I am just going to enjoy the games and stop trying to manufacture a club to support.

All these things transpired by December 2008. I had a few teams that I was really enjoying watching. Tottenham was a sneaky little bastard. Some games they looked like world beaters and other times they looked like they could be beaten by a girls college team. Maybe that ups and downs was why I preferred watching their games. Suddenly I was starting to not manufacture a feeling but organically was feeling prideful with a win and disappointed with a loss.

The love for Tottenham however came in the shape of two midfielders. Luca Modric and the January signing of Wilson Palacios. I like Modric from the Euro-Cup and the heart Palacios played with in his debut game sent me over the top. I guess the true testament that I found my team was that I never bought any Tottenham gear. I didn't need to, over the rest of the season my passion grew and grew and I didnt need anything to prove I was a Spur.

All the merchandise I bought in the beginning I gave away for free. I couldnt stand having items from clubs I wanted the Spurs to destroy.

I will always be a Spurs fan and enjoyed the bumpy ride. In the beginning I tried finding a team but the fact is the Spurs found me.
